Tips on Getting Cheap Last Minute Flights

Booking a last minute flight can be challenging, and getting one that is cheap can be even more so. While these flights are unpredictable, these suggestions can be helpful when you need those tickets.

How to Get Cheap Flights

The simplest way is to check the airline website. Any price cuts / special deals will be announced there. You can also call the airline. They will be more than happy to inform you of their latest promo. Airlines publish their promos on newspapers and magazines, so you should check them out too.

Compare the package deals of the carriers so you can get the best deal. If the offers are just about the same, stick with the airline you regularly use. Loyalty to airlines may entitle you to freebies or reduced ticket costs.

Unless it is really necessary, schedule your trips ahead or after peak season (i.e., Christmas and other holidays). Not only are the flights cheaper, but making reservations will be less of a hassle. If you can manage your departure and return dates, make them Tuesday or Wednesday. You can save some money this way.

Assess the fare carefully. It may include taxes and other charges.

Make sure you understand the ticket limitations too.

Some Tips for Finding Extremely Cheap Last Minute Flights

Start by calling the airline and asking if standby tickets are on offer. If they are available, grab it. The rule in airline ticketing purchasing is to book early, as they are cheaper.

Before you purchase, ensure the ticket allows for standby flight switching without any excess charges. Note: your luggage must be small to be put in the plane; there is no time to check them in during standby flights.

You can also get tickets from airline consolidators. These consolidators buy several discounted tickets and sell them at cheap prices. They are a good option to consider if you need last minute flight tickets. You will often see their tickets are much lower than the official airline price.

Other Suggestions

There are some Internet sites that let you bid for last minute flights. This can be a good choice, as it is possible to get an airline seat at a very low cost. If you want to try it out, make sure to follow the instructions as indicated on the auction site.

You can also try to negotiate with an airline representative. Even if you do not get a discount, you will at least know the various ticket offers and what your options are. Alternatively you can look online and purchase there.

Go to the airport as early as possible. Inform the person you want a last minute flight. Your name will be included in the list. Never leave your position unless absolutely necessary. Ask the gate to reconfirm your name on the list.

Sometimes it takes a bit of luck to find extremely cheap last minute flights, but knowledge and preparation play parts too. You simply need to be resourceful and be patient.

Cheap Getaway Packages Overview – What to Consider When Looking for Affordable Travel Deals

Is it time to get out of the house for a few days? Do you need to spend a weekend away from it all? It’s time to switch up the routine and go on a nice vacation. You don’t have to spend a lot of money on one, either – just look over cheap getaway packages to find out what all is available.

Planning a trip these doesn’t involve a lot of complexity. You simply book the airfare or bus, reserve a hotel room, and arrange for ground transportation. You can combine all of these at once as part of a package or book everything separately. Use search tools or sign up to receive deal alerts. Compare itineraries to determine which trip offers the most value.

Factors like the time of year, tourist season, and holidays play a role in the affordability of travel. Many people love heading to sunny places during spring break. Unfortunately, this drives up the costs of both flight and hotel rates. If you want to get away during spring months, you might want to head to a spot with lower temperatures. In Aspen, for example, prices tend to plummet in March and April. In places like the Caribbean and Mexico, summer is actually the cheapest time to go since most people want to avoid the extremely hot weather. If you don’t mind sitting in the shade or cooling off in the water all day, this might be something for you to consider.

Regardless of when you plan to take your vacation, it’s a good idea to make a short list of the places you want to visit. Determine the peak season and off-season of each location. Look for cheap get away packages and compare prices. Which deal seems to offer the most for your money? Keep in mind that the lowest priced trip might not necessarily be the best, depending on what is included in the package as well as the potential extra hidden fees.

Where Else to Look for Cheap Getaway Packages

If you really have trouble finding cheap travel to one of your ideal destinations, it’s okay to go off the beaten path. You never know what kind of hidden gems you may uncover when visiting an underrated or under-traveled spot. India Holidays for the Solo Traveller

India is a top tourist destination because of its many natural and manmade wonders, the exotic, colourful foods and art and the weather. India Holidays are perfect for solo travellers too as for the most part India is a safe place to travel through. If you’re a woman looking for a solo holiday you may have heard conflicting rumours about safety in India but I know plenty of women who have travelled through India without incident. You will from time to time hear smutty remarks as some of the local men do consider foreign women to be ‘easy’ but for the most part the Indian people are welcoming and more than willing to help. You will be asked endless questions about if you’re married, if you have children, what you do for a living and if you know their aunty in London but this is all just the Indian way. If you do feel nervous about travelling solo in India then there are plenty of solo holiday companies that run group holidays to India.

On a group holiday you’ll often be in a mixed group of friends, couples and singles or if you choose a specialist singles trip it will just be you and a whole bunch (usually about 15) other single travellers. These tours are always accompanied by a tour leader, usually a local, so you can feel safe in the knowledge they know their way around, know the local customs and the best places to visit. Not only will you have the safety of company, you will most likely make new friends too. Many a couple have fallen in love outside the Taj Mahal or women bonded over the shared experience of using the ‘outdoor squat’ toilet. A solo holiday doesn’t have to mean staying in cheap hotels alone, eating alone or asking strangers to take photos of you. On a group adventure you have the company of like-minded individuals looking to share their experiences and also spend a little time alone. You can interact with your group as much or as little as you like.

Your India trip can be as wonderful as you are willing to make it. Relax and take the chaos in your stride, sample all the local dishes and embrace the friendliness of everyone you meet. The Indian people have a lot to say and will regale you with stories about their family, country and religion. India is dirty, smelly and filled with character. In the holy places, such as the Ganges and Amritsar, you will encounter grieving families, holy men draped in orange robes and painted in bright colours, and these places will be the most touristy. In the mountains old colonial houses, now converted to hotels, stand a sign of a history gone, an array of wildlife haunt the national parks and hills, from monkeys to wild elephants and maybe even the tiger. Add a trip to Goa and you’ll experience a laidback, almost hippy vibe, beautiful beaches and in Varanasi, you can find out why it’s the oldest inhabited city in the world, a sacred place for Hindus.

India holidays should be on every traveller’s hit list. It offer wildlife experiences, amazing cultural interaction with an age old people with a wonderful outlook on life and some of the most stunning buildings in the world.

The Advantages of Luxury Hotels

Before you book any hotel you should seriously think about the holiday you really deserve. Booking a luxury hotel has so many advantages compared to a cheap hotel with limited facilities.

For a start just think about your comfort when you are sleeping! Quality hotels will invest in comfortable beds with good quality mattresses and pillows. Some of your cheaper hotels are not kind on your bad back if you get a dodgy bed!

If you are booking meals at a hotel then go for a high rating hotel where the quality of food is more likely to be higher. People who pay more for hotels are often more likely to demand high standards so this keeps your hotel staff on alert and usually results in better standards.

If you are staying in a hotel during the winter then be careful if you are hoping for a nice swim in the outdoor pool as many cheaper hotels will not have heated swimming pools which are required in the winter depending on your destination of course.

Hotels in the Thomson Gold group are famous for their high customer satisfaction ratings and this is why these customers often only book from this holiday brochure as they know the quality of hotel will be of the highest standard and meet certain criteria!

A luxury hotel will often have much more sports and leisure facilities available with activities planned throughout your stay to keep you occupied and content.

So it is clear that the benefits of luxury hotels are worth considering if you want a relaxing holiday.

Dominican Republic Holidays – Finding the Best Dominican Republic Hotels at the Lowest Prices

I have recently booked our own Dominican Republic Holiday, for a family of 6, and as I explored the prices with the main UK travel agents online I was amazed at how their prices would vary – even when looking at the same hotel! We saved almost £2000 in total. Read on, and I hope I can help you do the same!

Start with the Printed Brochures

Whilst I always book my holidays online, you really can’t beat flicking through the pages of the tour operators’ brochures for shortlisting your preferred regions and hotels, and for checking out the early booking discounts available to all (although in practice you can expect to save even more than this by booking online).

We found the brochures invaluable in helping us decide on a Punta Cana hotel, and it was much easier checking the facilities of individual hotels this way rather than viewing each hotel’s details online.

For the Dominican Republic we went through brochures from Thomas Cook, First Direct, Cosmos, Airtours and Thomson.

Hint – At this stage, don’t dismiss any Tour Operator based on price alone!

Going Online to Check Availability and Price

I expected Thomas Cook or First Choice to give us the best prices. For First Choice in particular, the headline price in the brochures looked amazing. Therefore it was a real surprise to find that when I went all the way through the booking process, with all the supplements and extras added on, that other companies came out significantly cheaper.

Other Ways We Kept the Prices Low

Check child prices versus adult prices – We spotted this anomaly weeks before it featured on television. Some of the online discounts only relate to adult prices, and when occupancy supplements are applied (as children do not count towards occupancy levels) you can find children are charged at a higher rate than adults. For example we found when we priced a room for 2 adults and 1 child that it came out significantly cheaper than when priced for 1 adult and 2 children. It can be the case in this situation that the first child receives the bigger discount and the second child is more expensive than the adult.

I don’t believe this is a deliberate attempt by any tour operator to discriminate against families, but just an

accidental result of the complex pricing structure of many holiday. So we ‘promoted’ our 11-year old to an adult.

Split the booking into two – As we needed two rooms, we saved even more money by splitting the booking into two.

This was because there was a reduction per booking at the time we made our reservation. Of course, we had to sacrifice any chance of the rooms being adjacent, but we were happy to do so for the extra discount.

Who Worked Out Cheapest for Our Dominican Republic Holiday?

We are going to the Superclub Breezes hotel in Punta Cana in late July, and both Thomson and Airtours offered us a really good price, and we chose one of these and saved almost £2000.

It is also worth noting that Thomson have now announced they are not charging fuel supplements on any of their package holidays.

However, the cheapest tour operator for you will depend upon your destination and date of travel. We reckon you’ll do best with Thomson or Airtours for Punta Cana Hotels in the Dominican Republic, but do recommend you check the prices with all the main tour operators when you are making your booking to ensure you benefit from any current offers and discounts.

Enjoy Your Holiday More With Your Family With Luxury Car Rentals

Going on a vacation with your family is not something you do every day. It is a period where you want to get the most out of the intimate company you share with your loved ones. Why hire a cheap car with a driver if you really want to make your holidays special? Instead, you can rent a luxury vehicle from a car rental service and make your vacation a premium one.

Avoid depending on your driver

Most car rental companies here have opened up the option to rent a vehicle without a driver. These are called self drive rentals and they are becoming wildly popular with tourists and holiday goers. With a vehicle that you can drive yourself:

  • You do not need to worry about the driver’s expertise
  • You get an extra seat in the car
  • You can enjoy the drive experience on smooth roads and highways
  • You can explore the new city on your own at your own leisurely pace

More importantly, you will be able to enjoy private moments with your family without being conscious of a third party present in between you. Moreover, you will love the independence you get when you know you are in charge of your holiday. If you love your driving and feel you will miss out during your vacation, a self drive car rental is what you want.

A more enjoyable date

Luxury car rentals are not just for holidays with your family, but can also serve you great for a romantic date. A good date can be ruined pretty easily if your vehicle breaks down, but you can rely on rental car to be thoroughly checked and work exactly as intended. Moreover,

  • Driving your date around in a luxury car tells your partner just how important the date is to you
  • It creates a premium feeling and sets the stage for a great dinner
  • A luxury car has more space, so you can relax and enjoy your music without a worry in the world

The best thing is that you can actually drive your partner around in a luxury car without having to own one. Rentals are pretty affordable. Of course, cheaper cars are even more affordable and luxury cars will have bigger rates. However, since you are only hiring the car for one night, it should not be a big problem.

There are more than a few self drive car rental services available today in all major cities. The only thing you need to worry about is being aware of the rates, terms and conditions of your rental. See to it that you follow all the guidelines set by the rental service about fuel, mileage and car condition, and you will have a great time with your loved ones.

Quick Tips On How To Get Cheap Car Hire Services

In case you are planning a holiday with limited budget, then you should consider the UK. Most individuals believe that they have to spend holiday overseas, but you don’t have to leave your country to have a wonderful time. You can find more than 2,000 beautiful destinations in Ireland and UK. Glasgow, Edinburgh, Cardiff and London are some of the most popular vacation spots.

Cheap car hire in Ireland offers convenient solutions for everyone to enjoy their holiday on limited budget. Some other benefits of renting a car include:

Traveling to various destinations without worrying about transfers and struggling with luggage from airport to train or bus stations.

No extra traveling costs for airport transfer service

Chance to make use of the rental car to visit the popular tourist attractions and sites

Additionally, most individuals think that rather than purchasing a car for random trips, car hire is actually a more economical option since they can save annually on things such as car maintenance, insurance, MOT and road taxes.

But based on certain situations, car hire might not be the best option since there are many additional factors to take into account. These include aspects to deal with in the contractual agreement, for instance the responsibilities of the rental companies and persons who are hiring the car, insurance protection for breakdowns or accidents, driver insurance and terms and conditions for using and returning the vehicle.

Additional costs that a car hirer would incur include extra driver fees; congestion charges; conditions for advance booking; fees for late return; sales tax; weekend/weekly rates and charges for mileage. These might or might not be taken into account within the special deals and discounts offered by the rental car company.

Nevertheless, since there is high competition within the car rental industry, it is recommended to shop around in order to find the best deals, not just online but also over the telephone. This way it is easy to see the different offers from the rental companies.

How to Save Money on Holiday

Going on holiday can be expensive, but it doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg. There are plenty of ways for people to book and plan their holidays cheaply, but what about when you’re actually at your destination?

Things can easily get very expensive very fast, what with travel, activities, eating in restaurants and staying in hotels. But it doesn’t have to be so bad – there are many ways to reduce the impact on your wallet. Here are some various ideas, suitable for all kinds of holidaymakers.

Youth Hostels: Despite the name, many youth hostels have family rooms! If you imagine grotty, cramped and noisy accommodation, get those ideas out of your head. Youth hostels are definitely no-frills, but if you do your research ahead of time, you will find many clean, well-located and at very least with good sound proofing!

House-swapping: This system have been around for a while now and there are many sites set up to cater for those who would rather switch houses with other travellers than fork out for a hotel room. Make sure you choose who will swap with you based on good reviewers and trust your gut feeling.

Couchsurfing: Fantastic for the single traveller, not so much for families. Couchsurfing is a relatively new phenomenon. The idea is you get to know people through the website and they will offer you accommodation in their home. Usually it is free, although sometimes people exchange services or gifts in exchange for sleeping arrangements! It is also possible for couples to find accommodation, although it is more tricky.

Budget hotels: They are certainly not a romantic or special option, but if you plan to use your hotel room only for sleeping, then why pay extra? Big hotel chains often have locations in many countries across the world and offer very cheap rooms.

Haggle for hotel rooms: Try calling a hotel to ask about room availability. Then leave it a few weeks and call them again – if the room is still available, there is a strong possibility they will be willing to haggle. You can also do this by email if you hate talking on the phone.

Picnic: This is the easiest, but probably the most work. Just head into any cheap local shop and buy food you can prepare easily. It will definitely not be a gourmet meal, but it’s cheap and easy and you can eat outside enjoying some people watching. If you find little local delis, you can also make it a bit special. Imagine a brie and baguette picnic with a bottle of vin rouge in Paris, for example. Yum!

Research: If you do your research ahead of time, you can find out which restaurants and bars locals prefer and hopefully which have the lowest prices. Local knowledge is really important if you want to save money, because otherwise you are unlikely to find places unless you stumble right across them. In addition, I’ve always found that the best places are usually tucked away and you’d need someone to tell you they are there!

Go veggie: Vegetarian options may sound like a drag for some, but you have loads of choice these days. In addition, they are always cheaper than meat menus and sometimes even come in much more generous portions!

Shop at sundown: It depends on where you are, but many shops will sell food cheaper at the end of the day, particularly if it is on or past its sell-by date. Baked good also generally come down in price. Have a look and see.

Coupons: Have a look online before you go and see if there are coupons available to sights or attractions you want to visit. If so, make sure you use them! Also check out prices to see if there are age-related discounts or loyalty schemes.

Go free: In many cities, you will find free attractions everywhere. For instance, in London, most of the museums don’t charge. Particularly in Summer though, it’s easy to have an entire vacation without having to go the paying attractions.

Check your timing: particularly for events such as plays, show and concerts, timing is an issue. Ticket costs vary wildly. Matinees are usually a good bet and cost a fraction of the evening price. Otherwise, find out if standing or cheap tickets are sold on the night. This is the case with many theatres and opera houses, although if you get standing tickets be prepared for it to be hard on the knees! You can also try hanging around the location just before the show begins – you will often find people trying to offload their tickets due to an emergency or change of plan.
